Earthquake tremors felt in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

According to sources, the quake also jolted several parts of Gilgit Baltistan

Earthquake tremors were felt in multiple cities of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province and the federal capital, Islamabad, on Friday evening.

The earthquake tremors were felt in Peshawar, Swat, Buner, Shangla, Chitral, Malakand, Buner, Mansehra, Battagram, and other areas of the province. However, there were no reports of damage received as yet.

According to sources, the quake also jolted several parts of Gilgit Baltistan.

An earthquake of magnitude 5.5 struck near Gahkuch in the Ghizer District of Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan, on Friday, October 17th, 2025, at 5:15 PM local time, according to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC).

Preliminary data indicate that the quake occurred at a moderate depth of 51 km. The precise magnitude, epicentre, and depth of the earthquake may be revised in the coming hours or minutes as seismologists analyse the data and refine their calculations, or as additional reports from other agencies become available.
